Teams Manager expands your administrative capabilities, letting you control Templates, Naming Conventions, Lifecycles, Policies, and Approvals.
In conjunction with External User Manager, it allows you to build a cohesive management infrastructure where EUM is in charge of Guests and TM is in charge of the Spaces they're in.
Let's explore how to connect the two apps and the benefits you can extract from doing so.
π‘ Keep in mind that the two apps can only be linked from the Connected apps tab in Teams Manager. Thus, the article below will mainly discuss actions that need to be performed in TM.
π Connecting EUM & TM
Navigate to Settings > Expert mode > Connected apps within Teams Manager.
βSelect External User Manager.
βThe system will run a check to ensure that all the necessary criteria are met.
βIf successful, you'll be able to click on Connect.
βClose the window and go about your business as usual. The two apps are now connected.
You can always navigate to Settings > Expert mode > Connected apps on EUM to verify the state of the connection. If the socket icon on the Teams Manager card is green, then the connection is working as it should be.
π EUM Connection in Action
Once the connection between the two apps has been established, all External Users can be handled by EUM as opposed to TM or the regular Teams interface.
In order to ensure that Guest Access for a given Team is handled by External User Manager, you'll need to select it under the Force guest access dropdown when creating or editing the corresponding Policy.
Once this has been done, clicking on the button under Guests on the Teams tab of TM will start the Standard External User Manager Guest Invitation Process.
π‘ Keep in mind that this option is available exclusively in Card View.
You can also Hide unmanaged Teams from External User Manager under Settings > Expert mode > Connected apps > External User Manager. Once enabled, this setting will ensure that EUM only displays Teams that are managed by TM.
The Team guest access settings tab will be disabled in External User Manager since Guest Access settings will be managed through TM.
