External User Manager allows you to restrict certain Teams from having Guests in them. These restrictions can be enforced based on individual Teams or entire Sensitivity Labels.
Let's explore how these restrictions can be enacted and how they can improve your Guest Management Infrastructure.
π‘ This feature works only when External User Manager and Teams Manager aren't connected. If the two apps are synced, Teams Manager will determine whether or not a guest can be added to a Team.
β
β Restricting Specific Teams
You might want to Restrict Guest Access for certain Teams due to the sensitivity of their content or because they simply don't relate to External Users.
Here's how you can do that:
Navigate to Settings > Expert mode > Guest invitation restrictions.
βStay in the Restricted teams tab.
βClick on the + Add team restriction button in the top right corner of the screen.
βType in the name of the Team for which you'd like to restrict Guest Access.
βConsider enabling the Hide already added teams toggle to exclude Teams that have already been added to the Blacklist.
βClick on Add to finalize your new Access Restriction.
The Team will appear in the Restricted teams list and won't show up in the Add Teams / Groups section of the Guest Request pop-up.
π·οΈ Restricting Access via Sensitivity Labels
You can take things further by blocking all Teams that fall under a certain Sensitivity Label from adding Guests. This way, you can make sure that no External Users can gain access to Confidential Company Information.
Here's how you can do that:
Navigate to Settings > Expert mode > Guest invitation restrictions.
βSwitch to the Sensitivity labels tab.
βFind the Sensitivity Label you'd like to alter.
βSwitch the Guest access setting to Disallowed.
βSwitching to Allowed will automatically allow External Users, while Unspecified will leave it up to the user's discretion.
All Published Sensitivity Labels will automatically show up in External User Manager, allowing you to set different rules for different access levels.
